Queen
Queen's front man was the flambouyant Freddie Mercury, who was born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5th 1946 in Zanzibar. In 1969 he joined the band IBEX which really was the begining of his career. In 1971, he joined Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon to form the band that became famous, Queen. Their first single, Keep Yourself Alive, in 1972 was a sample of great things to come. But it took a couple of years before Queen really started catching on. Their 1974 release, Sheer Heart Attack featured the song Killer Queen, which quickly hit the top of the charts. But the best was yet to come. Most feel that Queen's crowning achievement was 1975's A Night at the Opera , with it's unforgettable hit "Bohemian Rhapsody". Many other great albums followed (see the album covers below), and throughout was strung an incredible list of singles, which can be found on the greatest hits collections. Their music also covered a wide range of styles, as seen in the following list of hits.
Update 2005: Queen has reformed, at least temporarily, with a new front man, Paul Rogers. For those who don't recognize that name, Paul Rogers was the lead singer for the original Bad Company. Trivia: Freddie Mercury adored cats, and owned several
