The Cars
The Cars were:
Ocasek and Orr were the first two members to team up in the early 70s and were joined by Hawkes, Easton, and Robinson, in that order. There were other members along the way but this was the lineup that got the attention of Elektra Records and got them signed. Their first, self titled album was released in 1978 and featured a solid lineup of tunes, including their hits, "Just What I Needed", "My Best Friend's Girl", "You're All I've Got Tonight", and "Good Times Roll". Their sound was a unique and pleasing combination of Rock and New Wave. Their second album Candy-O followed in 1979 and the cover art on the album was done by famed Playboy artist Alberto Vargas. Among the hit songs on that album were "It's All I Can Do" and "Let's Go". The Cars continued to release ablums and perform until their breakup in 1988. Other hits by the band were "Shake It Up", "Touch and Go", "Since You're Gone", "You Might Think", "Drive" and "Tonight She Comes". Rick Ocasek has always been an obstacle to any reunions of the band.
